On a block of Main Street where Vancouver's Chinatown meets the everyday traffic of the city, Yuen Tai Hong keeps the oldest kind of inventory: dried herbs in glass and paper, ginseng laid out in graded rows, loose teas measured against a quiet scale.

It is the sort of storefront a neighbourhood leans on without ceremony — a counter, a set of drawers, and someone who knows what is in each one. No spectacle. Just the shop, open, on Main Street.

Three things, done plainly. 三樣

The stock divides, more or less, into three. Dried herbs — roots, bark, flower and fungus, kept dry and labelled. Ginseng — sorted and graded, sold by weight. And teas — loose-leaf, measured to order across the same worn counter.

Everything here is weighed by hand and wrapped to take home. We are presenting the goods exactly as a visitor meets them — no claims attached, no story we did not see.
