Manites is run by a mother and her daughter — two pairs of hands at the same bench, a kettle always on, and buckets of fresh stems standing by the door.
What began as one of them simply filling the house with flowers grew, over time, into the corner shop the whole neighbourhood now leans on: for birthdays and sympathies, for congratulations, and for plain old Tuesdays that wanted brightening.
The pair keep the shop small on purpose. Nothing is shipped in pre-made. You walk in, name the occasion and the colours you have in mind, and a bouquet is gathered, spiralled and wrapped while you wait — usually in about the time it takes to chat about your week.
Regulars are remembered by their favourites; first-timers are walked through what is freshest that morning. It is, by design, an unhurried sort of place — the kind a neighbourhood is lucky to keep.
Walk-ins are always welcome. Larger orders are happily arranged with a day's notice, and weddings or events are planned by appointment over a cup of tea.
