A redesign, in five movements.
An inherited ring rarely arrives ready to wear. We follow one through the bench — from the piece as received, to wax, to cast, to set, to the ring it becomes. Scroll the spread.
The wax model
The new form is carved in wax and tried by hand, refined until the proportions sit true on the finger.
The casting
Where possible the original gold is reused — the same metal, recast, so the heirloom literally lives on inside the new ring.
The setting
The original stone is cleaned, examined and seated by hand — each prong burnished so the gem is held for another generation.
Reborn
The same gold, the same stone, a wholly new ring — ready to be worn every day, and handed down again.

Bespoke & restoration.
Everything is made and finished by hand in the shop. Pricing is honest and quoted per piece — there are no catalogue prices for one-of-a-kind work.

The hand behind the work

Much of the bench work here is the patient kind — the resizing, the retipping, the redesign of a ring someone has worn for fifty years. Goldsmith David French works the metal directly, by hand, the way a small atelier always has.
