Deep Cove · North Vancouver · Est. 2014

The European table, set at the edge of the cove.

Cafe Orso is an independently owned, European-style cafe pouring coffee in the heart of Deep Cove Village since 2014 — espresso the unhurried way, pastries from the case, a warm room a short walk from the water. This is an unsolicited concept by X9 Lab Media; photographs are placeholders for the cafe's own.

The method · five steps

From bean to cup, the European way.

Nothing rushed, nothing automated past the point of caring. The same five steps, the same way, every cup since 2014.

Step 01

The bean

Fresh-roasted, ground to order.

Step 02

The dose

Weighed, tamped, levelled by hand.

Step 03

The pull

Twenty-odd seconds of dark crema.

Step 04

The milk

Steamed silky, poured with a leaf.

Step 05

The cup

Carried to the table, still warm.

From the case

The morning bake.
